INTRODUCTION
In today’s lesson, we’ll introduce a phrase that will surely come in handy for capturing your memories on film or memory card.

Lesson focus

France is full of beautiful sceneries and obviously you will take many pictures of landscapes and humans. However, I have no doubts that in some moments, you want to be in the picture, right? Therefore, there are times when the question “can you take my picture?” or “can you take our picture?” will be invaluable.
In French, “Can you take my picture?” is Vous pouvez me prendre en photo?
Vous pouvez me prendre en photo?
Let’s break it down by syllable: Vous pouvez me prendre en photo?
Now let's hear it once again: Vous pouvez me prendre en photo?
The first two words, vous pouvez, mean "you can” or “can you." (And uses the formal you.)
Let's break down these words and hear them one more time: Vous pouvez
Vous pouvez
This is followed by me prendre, which literally means "take me" in English.
However, in this case, we translate it as “take my,” talking about your picture.
And next, we have en, which is "in."
And finally, photo, which is "picture."
So to recap here, we have: Vous pouvez me prendre en photo ? Literally, this means "Can you take me in picture?"
Vous pouvez me prendre en photo ?
Vous pouvez me prendre en photo ?
Now, if you are not on your own, and you want to ask "Can you take our picture?"
In French, you just need to replace me with nous. So you would have: Vous pouvez nous prendre en photo ?
Vous pouvez nous prendre en photo ?
Vous pouvez nous prendre en photo ?
Let’s break it down by syllable: Vous pouvez nous prendre en photo ?
Now let's hear it once again: Vous pouvez nous prendre en photo ?
Now, what if you bump into a young person and you don't need to use the formal vous, and you want to be more casual? It’s very easy because the only element that changes is the subject and verb. So Vous pouvez changes into Tu peux, “can you?”
And altogether, you will have Tu peux me prendre en photo?
Tu peux me prendre en photo?
Tu peux me prendre en photo?
Let’s break it down by syllable: Tu peux me prendre en photo?
Now let's hear it once again: Tu peux me prendre en photo?
And that’s it for today.

Outro

Okay, to close out this lesson, we'd like you to practice what you've just learned. I'll provide you with the English equivalent of the phrase and you're responsible for shouting it aloud. You have a few seconds before I give you the answer, so bonne chance, that means “good luck” in French.
