| In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to answer this question and tell someone something about what you’re writing. |
| Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases! |
| Listen to the dialogue. |
| Que fais-tu ? |
| J'écris mon journal. |
| Once more with the English translation. |
| Que fais-tu ? |
| “What are you doing?” |
| J'écris mon journal. |
| “I'm writing my journal.” |
| First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you doing?” |
| That's: Que fais-tu ? |
| Listen to it again: Que fais-tu ?, Que fais-tu ? |
| This French sentence literally translates as “What doing you?" |
| But it means “What are you doing?” |
| Now, how do you answer this question? |
| The pattern is: |
| J'écris [object]. |
| This French sentence literally translates as “I write [object]." |
| But it means “I'm writing [object].” |
| For example: |
| “I'm writing my journal.” |
| J'écris mon journal., J'écris mon journal. |
