| Sam: Of course, let’s do just that. What’s the setting for this conversation? |
| Céline: This conversation is between two people meeting for the first time. |
| Sam: So they’ll be introducing themselves. And where does the conversation take place? |
| Céline: The conversation takes place at a café. |
| Sam: And the conversation is between…? |
| Céline: A man and a woman on their first blind date, “rendez-vous” in French. |
| Sam: So this is a dialogue you can use whenever you meet someone for the first time. Here we’ll be using polite language as these two are meeting for the first time. Alright, let’s listen to the conversation. |

| Sam: Bonjour, je suis Sylvain. Enchanté Céline. |
| Sam:Here we’re going to go over the conversation again, but we’re going to slow it down, so that you can catch everything. |
| Céline: Bonjour, je suis Céline. Enchantée. |
| Sam: Bonjour, je suis Sylvain. Enchanté Céline. |
| Céline: This time we’re going to give you the conversation one more time, with the English. |

| Sam: Okay, Céline, let’s talk a little bit about the etiquette when introducing yourself. |
| Céline: Great suggestion. When French meet, they shake hands or they kiss. |
| Sam: French kiss? |
| Céline: Non, kiss on the cheek. One kiss, two kisses, three kisses, depends on which part of France you are from. |
| VOCAB AND PHRASE USAGE |
| Sam: Okay, well let’s take a closer look at some of the words and phrases in this lesson. what do we have first? |
| Céline: Bonjour. |
| Sam: “Hello”. Can you break it down for us? |
| Céline: Bonjour. Bonjour. |
| Sam: And this is a polite way to say hello. It works during the day and in the afternoon, whenever you say “hello” in English, you should say “Bonjour” in French, but only during the day time. How about at night? |
| Céline: Bonsoir. |
| Sam: “Good evening” or “good night”. |
| Céline: Bonsoir. Bonsoir. |
| Sam: So, Céline, what do we have next? |
| Céline: Je suis Céline. |
| Sam: “I'm Céline.” Céline, let’s break it down and start with the first part. The first part is… |
| Céline: Je |
| Sam: “I”, and immediately after there is… |
| Céline: suis |
| Sam: “am”, “to be”. So, Céline, can you introduce yourself again? |
| Céline: Bonjour, je suis Céline. |
| Sam: Great. And if our listeners wanted to introduce themselves, they can just follow this pattern and simply just replace the name. So I can say “Je suis Sam”. |
| Céline: Great job. Okay, now lastly we have “enchanté(e)”. |
| Sam: “Nice to meet you.” Can you break that down for us? |
| Céline: Enchanté(e). Enchanté(e). |
| Sam: Great, so now you can introduce yourself again and add “nice to meet you”. |
| Céline: “Bonjour, je suis Céline. Enchantée.” Now, remember those all the tools we were talking about? |
