INTRODUCTION
Eric: Hi everyone, I'm Eric.
Yasmine: And I'm Yasmine.
Eric: Asking for Information About Something.
Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for asking for information about something.
PATTERN
Eric: For example, "What is your favorite color?"
Yasmine: Quelle est ta couleur préférée?
Yasmine: [slow] Quelle est ta couleur préférée?
Eric: The pattern for asking about information about something has 3 elements. First, the adjective meaning "what" in the feminine form.
Yasmine: Quelle.
Eric: Second, the verb "to be," conjugated in the third person singular.
Yasmine: est.
Eric: Third, the subject, in this case "your favorite color."
Yasmine: ta couleur préférée.
Eric: Altogether, we have "What is your favorite color?"
Yasmine: Quelle est ta couleur préférée? [slow] Quelle est ta couleur préférée? [normal] Quelle est ta couleur préférée?
Eric: First you have the adjective meaning "what," modified in gender and number according to the subject. Then we have the conjugated verb "to be" modified according to the subject, and finally the subject.
Yasmine: Quelle est ta couleur préférée?
Eric: So remember, to ask for information about something, start with the adjective "what," followed by the conjugated verb "to be," and then the subject.
Eric: Here's another example meaning, "What is your seat number?" First, the adjective meaning "what" in the masculine form.
Yasmine: Quel.
Eric: Second, the verb "to be," conjugated in the third person singular.
Yasmine: est.
Eric: Third, the subject, in this case "your seat number."
Yasmine: ton numéro de siège
Eric: Altogether we have...

Eric: "What is your seat number?"
[pause]
Yasmine: Quel est ton numéro de siège?
Eric: How do you say - "What are the results?" To give you a hint, "the results" is...
Yasmine: les résultats. [slow] les résultats. [normal] les résultats.
Eric: "What are the results?"
[pause]
Yasmine: Quels sont les résultats? [slow] Quels sont les résultats? [normal] Quels sont les résultats?
[pause]
