Perhaps not as romantic as you Celine, but it is a very cute word to my Australian ears.

Ooh, now we're talking food - hmm. I think "Fois Gras" is an absolute triumph of language over reality. If someone proffered some fatty liver, well... I'd try and avoid it. But when I was in southern France, I found something in the markets called a Royale. Made from dried and perhaps smoked duck meat wrapped around Fois Gras. Ooh la la - Se Magnific! It quickly became my favourite treat.

Oh my reply seems to have disappeared, or I didn't post it properly. Ah well...
Je suis resté en France pour six mois - the limit of my visa. Then I travelled around europe a few months and snuck back in for a couple of weeks to say Adieu à mes amis.
What made you think I was in Provence? I did go and stay in Aix for a visit with my friend. He wanted to show me his Porsche. Was an old tractor - big joke!
Most of my time was in the Dorgdogne (South/West) - beautiful country. I did as many trips as possible and saw just about all the department.

What were surprising or shocking moments while living among the French ?

The politeness was very impressive. Although waiting in long lines at the Supermarche or La Poste whilst people have a personal conversation with the cashier is a foreign concept for me, and takes a little getting used to. I love the bread, and the wine, and even the fact that almost everything closes while tout le monde go home for a big lunch. The popularity of hunting was a big surprise.

Animal welfare seems to be a bit thin, at least in my neck of the woods. The fact that you could drive a tiny 50cc micro car even after you loose your license was a shock and really quite hilarious.

Ah I miss it all. But I do live in a very nice place, so I shouldn't protest too much.

So, how do you find mexico, what are the cultural differences? Are the flu restrictions having a big impact on you?
