French Movies to help with language learning??

Postby pandorappritchard5687 » August 3rd, 2011 11:35 am

Hi,

I am trying to find French films, which will help to tune my ear to the language. Does anyone know any films, whereby the actors/actresses speak relatively clearly, as opposed to action type movies which are too fast paced to understand anything? I thought there may be some classic French movies which might be helpful.

I agree with you, watching French films is the best way to learn the French language. Thanks, for the nice concept. J

Bonsoir !

"La vie est un long fleuve tranquille" est un très bon film, c'est une excellente suggestion !
"La vie est un long fleuve tranquille" is a very good movie, this is an excellent suggestion !

Usually, if your need to watch some understandable French movies, you should check the old ones, like for example Cocteau's La Belle et la Bete, Cendrillon.... These are very good and well played !

Hope you can enjoy it !

Les Cousins directed by Chabrol in 1960s is rather a depressing film, but has stood the test of time. There is a lot of very clear speech in it. In one early scene the 'immoral' cousin uses the future tense in 20 or so sentences one after the other, -- or is it Aargh! the subjunctive??? or the conditional? -- predicting how the future would pan out if she were to go ahead and have a love affaire with the 'good' cousin.

Bonne semaine
